For us, value is what endures. We are aware of our great responsibility towards our fellow human beings and the environment.
And we focus on actions rather than words: using electricity from hydropower, homemade and regional products for culinary enjoyment, avoiding plastic bottles and unnecessary packaging or using our own mineral water - these are just some of the small and large measures in our day-to-day work. In this way, we are laying the foundations for a sustainable future.
Would you like a cappuccino with oat milk? In the spirit of "no cow - wow", it costs 50 centimes less than with cow's milk. And while we're on the subject of non-animal products: How do you like our vegan pastry creations at the breakfast buffet or our vegetarian and vegan soups that we serve to satisfy your hunger in between meals?
We are particularly fond of regional specialities. Enjoy specialities from the neighbouring Horu cheese dairy or (organic) wines from our valley. We satisfy your craving for a cold beer with Zermatt beer, Sam Anthamatten beer from Martigny and Appenzeller wheat beer - or a cola with Vivi Kola, the flavoursome Zurich alternative to Coca-Cola.
We also think ahead when it comes to service: we clean your room exclusively with cleaning agents that are plant-based and 100 per cent biodegradable. We recycle toilet rolls and leftover candles as kindling and only change bed linen and towelling at your request.
Does your room not need cleaning today? Let us know and set an example - with a sign on the door that sums it up: "There is no Planet B!".
We also avoid unnecessary packaging at Bella Vista and reduce waste wherever possible: for example, we do not offer our guests disposable slippers, but recommend that they bring their own slippers.
Our Zermatt tap water is of outstanding quality. See for yourself, a bottle is available in your room to fill up. Do you prefer sparkling or still mineral water? We prepare our tap water with BeWTR - and save the long journey of mineral water and CO2 emissions.
Speaking of saving: All showers in the rooms have a Kassensturz test-winning shower head. Another sign that we are taking a stand against the waste of valuable resources.
As a member of the Green Pearls® Unique Places organisation, the sustainable and ecological use of resources is one of our top priorities. Our entire hotel is equipped with LED lights. This saves electricity - which we in turn obtain from hydropower.
As a member of United Against Food Waste, it is also our declared goal to prevent food waste. We plan as well as possible how much food is needed and sensitise our staff and guests to this.
Speaking of guests: At Bella Vista we live a responsible, social interaction - with the aim of offering you a holiday experience that will be remembered for a long time.
Our team is the heart of Bella Vista - and you have to take care of it! We have great respect and even greater gratitude for our employees, some of whom have been with us for many years. A fixed work schedule, healthy food and a healthy work-life balance are a matter of course for us.
As a member of my blue planet, we hold an annual workshop with our employees to sensitise them to sustainability issues and gather their own ideas for further possible measures.
We also provide our employees with staff studios or help them find accommodation. Because the housing situation in Zermatt is getting worse, we are currently planning a residential building for our employees.
However, our social responsibility goes beyond Bella Vista: on the one hand, we support the Jubla Zermatt summer camp with a financial contribution. On the other hand, we make an annual donation to the organisation "Nachbar in Not" (Neighbours in Need) to help people from the Upper Valais who have fallen into poverty.
Travelling to us by train instead of by car? We'll reward you for it: We'll take care of your class upgrade from 2nd to 1st class for the Visp - Zermatt route. Buy your ticket online or at the ticket machine and show it to us at check-in. We, Zermatt and our environment thank you!
