History & Philosophy

The Zeulenroda reservoir has been approved for tourist use since 2012. Long time before this time when bathing was not allowed at all, the hotel has been located there. In GDR times, it was home to a FDGB vacation resort. The appearance reflected very characteristically the GDR vacation rental architecture. After the fall of the Wall, it passed into the hands of different owners and stood empty for a while.

The intention to implement “organic” at all levels goes back to 2005, when the management of the hotel visited trade fairs and had many conversations with organic mentors. This resulted in developing their own organic concept.
Despite of the many obstacles and drawbacks, all managers are behind this decision and proud to have succeeded. From November 2005 to February 2006, many of the products were converted: Eco-paper, phosphate free cleaners, eco-bed linen.
A total of 6,500 products have since been sourced from organic suppliers. The local farmers are being supported with organic certifications to have a broad regional alignment.
